Thank you to those of the irrigation family that supported (participants and sponsors) the 2015 Regional conference in Penrith NSW, and also to those people that help organise and run the conference.
It is acknowledged that participant numbers were below expectation despite this the level of paper presentation, questions asked and the conversations where of a high caliber.
As noted in my welcoming speech the IRRIGATION FAMILY is a broad family. From designers of equipment, logistics, governments, water authorities, professionals, growers, councils, installers, managers, etc, etc.
Of all the paper my internal chuckle relates to the representative from Wollondilly Council, who prefaced her discussion by noting that they were not involved in the Irrigation Industry. She further noted that 4 dams, chicken farms, hydroponic, field crops, sports fields, etc. were contained within their boundary. It was a little embarrassing to note that actually Wollondilly Council is involved in the Irrigation Industry. Even if they do not currently acknowledge their irrigation relationship.
Presentations will be made available to to the delegates where permission is granted. For those not attending they will be made available through the IAL.
In another 12 month the irrigation family is meeting again. This time for our conference in Melbourne. I look forward to continue the debate, discussion and idea, relating to soils, water, application rates, etc, etc with the irrigation family.
